Next time someone tells me “SHOULDA BOT A CHEBBY HUR HUR” I’m gonna recount with “At least if I take a rock to the headlight its not a THOUSAND DOLLAR REPAIR”.

I think I told this story here before, but I made money on the side in college by going to u-pull junkyards, buying up expensive looking headlights, and re-selling them on ebay. Lot of money in the headlight housings.

Back in my Mazda days I had to order a headlight for a Mazdaspeed 6. Came to about $1000.
No bulbs. No sockets. No HID ballast. Not even the COVERS for the back where the bulbs are were included.

I used to sell warranty lamps that had ‘condensation’ that the factory told us to scrap.... added a little silicone sealer around the lens and off to eBay they went.
Hard to do now with core charges....

Bulbs?! Ha there aren’t any bulbs in these at all. They are full LED lamps. Guess how much it’ll cost when one goes out? Oh they can’t be changed or repaired? You need to replace the whole thing?

One does not simply buy GM parts over the counter at the dealer. Either you order online or get them to price match the trade price posted online.

Most expensive RAM 2500 headlight of similar vintage (2015) is $704.00 for bi-xenon.
But this is for a Basic Bitch 2500 Silverado. Even aftermarket ones are $800.

We’ve had a couple warranty claims on LED DRLs in Grand Cherokees, and even a new Pacifica already.

I got lucky since the yard guys didn’t pull the lights themselves already. Nowadays the cars get pre-cleaned of expensive stuff.

My headlamp housings are glass and have been NLA for years, so I dunno! I feel like everything new is ‘spensive.

People buy GM parts over the counter all the time

The deciding factor on taking my free NC Miata with front damage from my brother in law was the fact that the headlights were salvageable. They’re made of unobtanium and are outrageously expensive!

I just paid $57.69 for a replacement BMW cup holder , all because one stupid little spring inside the original one broke and you can’t replace just the spring.
I already hated this thing before it broke.
At least it’s very easy to access it to replace it. All that’s needed is to pry up the cup holder trim panel with a panel tool which I already own, and the whole cup holder unit comes out with removing a couple screws.
It’s almost like BMW knew the cup holders were a terrible design and made them easily serviceable (as a self-contained, $50+ over-complicated physical embodiment of nonsense).

Not if you take the truck in on trade, inspect it, sell it, and the only person that notices is the buyer.

If only Certi-fit made LED housings for current models....
99% of the reason manufacturers are now putting logos and easter eggs in headlights, tail lights, and glass is so the aftermarket cannot legally make a cheaper replica.

TBH that cup looks like overkill for the cupholder. I’m quite certain ze germans did not plan on anything larger than a 8oz foam cup being placed in there.

pretty sure that’s banned in California

It is perfectly sized for a 12 oz soda can. 16 oz energy drinks are ok too. Anything smaller in diameter the little stabilizer flap doesn’t actually stabilize, anything bigger doesn’t fit. Curved 20 oz plastic soda bottles flop over. I had to buy a smaller water bottle than the one in the picture to fit more readily. It’s 18 oz but the correct diameter. It is a terrible cup holder.
